Nigeria inflation rate down to 11.31 Pct in Feb ~NBS

Nigeria's annual consumer inflation slowed to 11.31 percent in February against 11.37 percent growth in January, the country's statistics office has said.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) latest data showed that February’s food inflation rose 13.47 percent year-on-year, compared with January’s growth of 13.51 percent.
According to NBS, year-on-year Food inflation drops to 13.47 percent compared with 13.61 percent in Jan.
Year on Year Core inflation drops to 9.80 percent against 9.90 percent in Jan, the statistics office said on Friday.
A sales and marketing professional Oluwole Dada reacting to the NBS inflation report on Twitter said:
"Inflation has slowed for two consecutive months in an election period. We need an analysis of the cause of this (a departure from the last two election cycles) so as to continue this in coming years. Elections should not be a cause for inflation & decrease in FX reserves."
Analysts have predicted higher inflation figure for the January and February in anticipation of a surge in election spending by politicians and government.
However, some people claimed that the non-approval of the 2019 budget by the National Assembly before the general election curb spending by the government.
