Nigerian president Mohammadu Buhari start a meeting with his junior minister for petroleum at the seat of power to discuss the later petition against the chief executive of the state-run oil firm NNPC.
Ibe Kachihwu, Nigeria's junior oil minister had in a memo to the president two months ago, but leaked to the media this week accused the chief executive of NNPC, Maikanti Baru of flagrantly sidelining him the operations of the oil firm.
Kachikwu who wore a dark navy blue suit with striped tie was escorted by his Personal Assistant. Although the agenda for the meeting was not disclosed, it may not be unconnected with the rift between him and the NNPC, Baru who he accused of insubordination.
The Minister of State had also accused Baru of not being transparent in the handling of affairs of NNPC contrary to the policy of the Buhari-led government that preaches transparency and due process.
