They say the first impression we have of someone is a lasting one so how can you make yours count for the right reasons?
According to Carmen Simon, a cognitive scientist and author of the book Impossible to Ignore, there are simple things you can do when you meet someone to ensure you're unforgettable.
Carmen has shared three ways you are sure to engage with whoever you meet - and make them remember you forever.
1. Back up your points with facts - and repeat it three times
According to Carmen, it's essential to use facts - that's truths known by actual experience or observation - in conversation.
She says people are much more likely to remember what you say if you stick to the facts, rather than using opinions or abstract points.
2. Surprise them and ask questions: When you're in conversation with people, the element of surprise is what will keep them hooked - and help them remember you for all the right reasons. It's also important to ask them questions, which will keep them engaged.
3. Motivate them: According to science, the more inspired, motivated and excited your audience feels by what you're saying, the more likely they are to remember it - and you.
