Nigeria plans to build five new international airport terminals in its commercial nerves center Lagos, administrative capital Abuja, and city of Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu before the end of 2016.

“These airports will improve passenger comfort, increase capacity and improve facilitation,” he said, adding that the completion of these terminals would stimulate robust traffic growth in passenger and cargo traffic.
Though the 7.2 percent increase for passenger traffic from the MINT countries – Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey – as contained in the 2014 ACI World Airport Traffic Report, was commendable, this figure would experience a steady rise, he said.
The new international terminals are being constructed with the $500 million loan secured from Chinese bank about two years ago.
Meanwhile, Binta Bello Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation has expressed confidence that the committee on national carrier will come out with solutions for the establishment of a national flag carrier that Nigerians will be proud of.
President Buhari, she revealed, had given the ministry a marching order to commence work on the national carrier that should culminate in making the Nigeria Africa’s aviation hub.
She stated that the establishment of a national was not only justified by economic considerations, but also national interest, national pride and job creation potentials for the country.
