The kidnapped director of Lagos state Fire Service Rasaki Musibau and six others have been released by their captors.
According to Lagos Police Command spokesman, Elkana Bala, the kidnapped fire service chief was released with six other by 11.45 pm on Tuesday and had reunited with their families.
Sources, however, said ransome was collected from the families of the victims by their captors before they were let go. The amount collected was however not disclosed.
According to the sources, the families were advised to negotiate with the captor without involving the Police so as to save the lives of those kidnapped.
” The Command’s Tactical teams are still in the creeks and forests combating the hoodlums. Water-Tight security measures are emplaced across the State to forestall future occurrence.
“The Command deeply appreciates the support of Lagos State Government and the good people of Lagos State who stood by it and also provided useful information that facilitated the prompt rescue of the victims. Together we will continue to make Lagos State one of the safest states in Nigeria”.
Meanwhile, the Police said it has arrested two suspected members of the kidnap gang that abducted the Lagos State Fire Service boss and six others last Saturday.
The suspects identified as Blessing Bayo (29) and Smart Alfred (32) are indigenes of Arogbo, Ondo State. They were arrested at about 5.30am , at Ibafun , along Ikorodu- Ijebu Ode Express Way, a boundary community with Ogun State.
