Nigeria oil output jumps 1.6 pct in Aug, says central bank

Nigeria's crude oil output, including condensates and natural gas liquids, was estimated at an average of 1.88 million barrels per day (mbd) or 58.28 million barrels in August, a central bank of Nigeria report has shown.

Central bank said in its August economic report, crude oil output for the month was 1.6 per cent higher than the total of 57.35 million barrels last month.
The increase in output was attributed to the successful arrests and constant clamp down of crude oil vandals, the bank said adding that "though crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region continued to impact negatively on crude oil output."
It said crude oil export was estimated at 44.33 million barrels in the month, compared with 43.4 million barrels in the previous month, a 2.1 per cent increase.
Disruption to Africa's top crude producer's output by vandals cutting into pipelines and stealing crude has remained intractable since the end of militancy in the Niger Delta region.
Shell re-opened on Thursday part of its Trans Niger Pipeline although other parts remain closed and a force majeure on Bonny Light crude which it carries remains in place.
The 24-inch line which was shut in on October 9 following leaks at B-Dere and Nonwa-Tai, remains closed," it said, adding that the force majeure declared on October 9 would be "lifted as soon as it is operationally possible to do so, the company said on Thursday.
