Lagos Gov. Ambode sacks three cabinet members, appoints five

Nigeria's Lagos State has kicked out three cabinet members, redeployed four and appointed five new ones in its bid to rejuvenate the management team and prepare for the 2019 general election.Image result for Akinwunmi Ambode
In an announcement on Thursday, Secretary to the government, Tunji Bello said the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has moved the commissioner for information, Steve Ayorinde  a journalist to the tourism, art and culture ministry and replaced him with another journalist, Kehinde Bamigbetan.
Also, Rotimi Ogunleye, a journalist cum lawyer who was hitherto was in charge of the commerce ministry has been redeployed to the ministry of physical planning and urban development.
The national electoral body, INEC had this week announced timetable for the conduct of 2019 general election, putting politicians across the divide on alert for preparation.
Sources closed to the state government revealed that the cabinet reshuffle was not unconnected with the need to get ready for the forthcoming general election, where the governor is positioning for a second term in office.
The sacked three cabinet members include; Adebimpe Akinsola, Femi Odubiyi and Anifowoshe Abiola. The governor had last year sacked some of his key cabinet member and did not replace then until this latest exercise.
Those are newly appointed are; Hakeem Fahm (Ministry of Science and Technology); Ladi Lawanson (Ministry of Transportation); Segun Banjo (Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget); Olayinka Oladunjoye (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) and Hakeem Sulaiman (Communities and Communications).
