Senate Announces Abdullahi, Borrofice Senate Leader, Deputy, Kalu Chief Whip

Nigerian Senate has announced the names of its principal officers for the ninth Senate with Yahaya Abdullahi from Kebbi emerged as the Senate Leader, while Ajayi Borrofice from Ondo as the deputy Senate leader.


The appointment was announced by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan on Tuesday at the plenary while reading letters from sent to the Senate by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, is the new chief whip and Aliyu Abdullahi from Niger is the deputy chief whip.
On the minority side, Enyinnaya Abaribe from Abia is the minority leader while Emmanuel Bwacha from Taraba) is the deputy minority leader.The FCT senator, Philip Aduda, retains his position as minority whip and Sahabi Yau from Zamfara is the deputy minority whip.
The letters from the chairmen of both parties stated that the new principal officers for majority and minority positions were unanimously nominated.
